Oh God ikr? Meryl Streep is so wonderful in it, and if I pretend that the movie ended with Andy being awesome in fashion and telling her terrible friends to fuck off, it’s almost perfect.
I didn’t mind her going back to her first love of journalism, but lol, yes, telling her terrible friends to fuck off should have gone with her telling her whiny brat of a boyfriend to leave.
That is about the only movie I can think of offhand where the film adaptation is better than the book.
Having Meryl Streep play your main character definitely helps! Yeah, there are sadly few of those. I did like A Time to Kill better as a movie, but it’s mostly because Grisham’s style is not something I always care for.
oh man, i haven’t checked the femslash newsletter on LJ since fall 2k11, but when i did, miranda/andy had new fic more frequently than, like, anything?! people are still makin’ it thrive!
Oh, really? Hayseed_42 was my absolute favorite author for Andy/Miranda fic, I should go looking around for more now :D

The film benefitted massively from taking a step back from the author’s clear SEETHING HATRED of Anna Wintour and giving Miranda a more rounded and interesting characterization. It had a far better ending, too; it tied up many more plots.

To me, it wasn’t that she went back to journalism, but that after everything, the message really did seem to be that her friends/boyfriend/father were right and her job was stupid and/or “ruining her”. :/
